My work is oil on canvas, paper or wood with a combination of new and traditional medium.
Recent paintings are several layers deep, reflecting more light than previous work.
I paint abstract earthscapes as viewed from space.
These are inspired by satellite images of seasons, weather and Earth’s inhabitants changing the surface of our beautiful planet. Before the invention of satellites and the now common images of earth from space, landscape was seen from the position of man standing on earth gazing out upon its surface. Its definition was: “A portion of land that the eye can see in one glance” and:“one vertical, one horizontal – the minimum construction needed to communicate the impression of ‘landscape’.” I still value and use “minimum construction” but view the earth from a different perspective.
I hope to transport you to a lovely, thoughtful place by stimulating your mind, spirit and senses.
